With the privilege of transporting specialized goods across North America’s highways comes the responsibility of protecting the environment along the way. Atlas is implementing several programs that will improve performance within their fleet systems. Many Atlas van operators are equipped with on board computers which allow them to stay connected and complete the job more efficiently. Also, they have reduced emissions output by installing generators throughout most of their tractors. Generators eliminate the owner-operator from idling the truck’s engine while at rest and maintain all the on-board systems. About 80 percent of Atlas van operators have generators. Implementing these systems will reduce pollutants and conserve resources so that the environment is impacted in a positive manner.
